Radical Receiving

Sun, November 9th: 6:30-9:00pm
The Local Co-op, SLC, UT

Practice asking for what you want and getting it exactly the way you want it!

Join us for a dynamic and enlightening evening focused on Radical Receiving.

You might be asking: What is Radical Receiving?!

I'll tell you first what it is NOT...

How many times have you gone for a massage and experienced moments where it wasn't quite what you wanted, and you told yourself..."I hope what they are doing will be over soon..." or "if only they would apply more pressure, less pressure, move faster, move slower..."? Or maybe you were with an intimate partner and felt the same way about the way your partner touched you.

How many times have you found yourself wishing for some other action to happen, but not having the words or capacity to ask for something to change?

We all have a tendency to go along with the action that is happening. We rely on someone else with expertise, or knowledge or skills to know what's best for us -- whether that's knowing the right techniques, or thinking someone else knows our bodies better than we do.

Radical Receiving is about flipping the script...

This workshop is about learning and practicing a different approach -- that the choosing is more important than the doing. Putting you in the drivers seat, you will direct the action and get it exactly the way you want it. It's about focusing on NOTICING what you want, TRUSTING in your desires and impulses, VOICING your requests, and then RECEIVING the action for your benefit.

What the evening will look like...

We'll warm up with a few practices as a group to notice your desires and your limits. We will then get into groups of two or three and each person will have the opportunity RECEIVE -- to ask for what they want, which may or may not include touch -- and each person will have an opportunity to GIVE -- only doing what was asked for and nothing more.

When in the RECEIVING role, you will practice:

  • Slowing down and noticing what you want

  • Listing to the wisdom of your body and following the impulses that arise in real-time

  • Valuing your wants and desires -- your desires matter, and you matter

  • Speaking up and asking for what you want

When in the GIVING role, you will practice:

  • Listening to the request, and checking in with your willingness before taking action

  • Asking for clarification where needed, instead of guessing

  • Only doing what was asked for and nothing more

  • Feeling the ease of giving based on present moment impulses from the receiver, and not techniques or performative actions

We’ll discuss how to structure the experience to make it enjoyable for all, balancing different needs, preferences, and dynamics.

Whether you’re looking for a fun exploration with new people or seeking deeper intimacy with a partner, this workshop will equip you with tools to notice what you want to speak up for it, and to notice your limits and only give what you are willing to do with a full heart.

This will be a fully clothed event. There may be sexual energy, but the idea is not to follow it. If it arises in an exchange, notice and appreciate it, but don’t try to enhance it or run after it. The focus of the evening will be on creating a safe, consensual, and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
